About

Welcome to Tender Places: Everyday Entryways into the Divine, a blogspace by Dr. Beth Hatcher filled with inspiring and challenging stories that capture life-giving change points, those Tender Places that encourage us to see the holy messages in our daily lives.  Seen from a faith-based, spiritual perspective, tender places resonate with Divine potential and heightened sensitivity to the Holy Presence. Tender Places open up an inner dialogue and stir something within us that will challenge, comfort, intrigue, and occasionally mystify. Written with a Christian, faith-based perspective, the stories use reflections, images, scriptures, and prayers drawn from observations of the natural world and the ordinary, everyday living of our lives. These writings reflect an open stance, seeking heart, and a non-exclusive, judgement-free approach to our relationships with God and people. Tender Places accompanies readers on their faith journeys as they search for value, depth, and meaning in their lives.

Tender Places appeals to spiritual seekers who inhabit the vast middle ground between strict Biblical interpretations and a non-religious philosophy and embraces those who seek spiritual growth and harmony both within and outside a particular denominational stance. Those who are open to hearing God’s voice in unusual and everyday places, and are willing to live with questions, doubt and uncertainty in their lives may find resources to uncover the role of Spirit and faith in personal growth as well as in the larger human community.

Tender Places’ theme-like approach features meditations that focus on awareness and perseverance, creativity, transformation, vulnerability, nourishment and empowerment.   Entries are open to interpretation and a questioning spirit as readers are invited to name their own tender places.

Grateful acknowledgement is given to Nita Gilger, M.S., educator and minister, for her creative contributions to  Tender Places.
